Lesley Parilla is an accomplished library and information science professional with extensive experience in library operations and technical services. Currently serving as Chief Librarian at George Washington's Mount Vernon since March 2020, Lesley manages library and archives staff, ensuring effective policies and workflows, and actively participates in various consortia, including the Program for Cooperative Cataloging and Digital Virginias. Previous roles include Assistant Specialist at the Library of Congress and Cataloging and Bibliographic Access Librarian at Smithsonian Libraries, where Lesley focused on original cataloging and bibliographic access. Earlier experience also includes creating catalog records for the Smithsonian Institution's National Museum of Natural History and volunteer work at the Historical Society of Washington DC. Lesley holds a B.A. in English from Oberlin College and an MLIS from the University of Hawaii at Manoa.
