Matt Raker

Matt Raker is the Executive Director at Mountain BizWorks, a position they have held since July 2015. Prior to that, they served as the Director of Community Investments & Impact for Mountain BizWorks from December 2009 to January 2020. In this role, Raker was responsible for creating a vibrant economy and entrepreneurial ecosystem in Western North Carolina that afforded the people of our region access to opportunity both today and for future generations.

Raker also served on the board of MountainTrue from January 2010 to January 2020, and was a member of the City of Asheville Sustainable Advisory Committee on Energy and the Environment from January 2009 to December 2015.

Raker began their career in 2003 as a co-founder of TopFloorStudio, a position they held until 2006. Matt then went on to serve as the Co-Founder & Chief Technology Officer of Jute Networks, LLC from 2007 to 2009.

Matt Raker studied economics and natural resources management as an undergraduate at the University of North Carolina Asheville. Matt then went on to study at NCSSM.
