Barane Chan has over two decades of experience in the gaming industry. Barane started their career at Reflections Interactive Co. Ltd. as a Game Programmer specializing in character animations. Barane then moved on to Rockstar Games, where they worked as a Game Programmer for five years. Following that, they joined SEGA Racing Studio as a Senior Game Programmer.
In 2008, Barane joined Sony Computer Entertainment Europe as a Senior Programmer. During their time there, they were responsible for various tasks, including UX implementation, localization pipelines, game flows and logics, and animations integrations. Barane worked on projects such as LittleBigPlanet (PSP), TV Superstars (PS3), Killzone Mercenary (PS VITA), and Killzone Shadow Fall (PS4).
Barane continued their career at RealVNC as a Mobile Application Developer, focusing on mobile app development. Barane then joined Foundry 42 Ltd as a Senior Programmer, and later moved on to Slightly Mad Studios as a UI Programmer.
In 2019, Barane joined Fabrik Games as a Senior Software Engineer, before taking on the role of Principal UI Programmer at Splash Damage in 2020. Currently, they hold the position of Principal UI Engineer at Mountaintop Studios since 2023.
Barane Chan obtained a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Computer Engineering from The Chinese University of Hong Kong in 1997. After that, Barane attended The University of Edinburgh and completed a Certificate in Film & Media Studies in 2003. Later, Barane pursued a Post-Graduate Certificate in Information Systems Project Management at Edinburgh Napier University, which was completed by 2007. Additionally, Barane obtained a certification in Thinking Creatively from LinkedIn in April 2022.
