Remco Groenhuijzen has extensive work experience in the hospitality industry, holding various leadership positions throughout their career. Remco began their career in various roles at Amsterdam Sonesta Hotel before transitioning to Cafe Juliana at Sint Maarten as a Restaurant Manager. Remco then worked as an Assistant Bedrijfsleider at Hotel de Biltsche Hoek. Groenhuijzen joined Novotel Amsterdam City as a Restaurant and Conference Manager, eventually becoming the Operational Manager. Remco then moved on to hold the position of General Manager at Hotel Ibis Amsterdam Stopera and later at Hotel Ibis Amsterdam Airport, where they were also responsible for the opening of a new hotel on the premises. After that, they became the Director of Operations Economy Hotels Netherlands at AccorHotels. Remco subsequently served as the General Manager of Novotel Amsterdam City before taking on the role of General Manager at Sofitel Legend The Grand Amsterdam, where they managed a 177-room luxury property. Currently, they are the General Manager at Mövenpick Hotel Amsterdam City Centre and the VP Operations for Mövenpick Netherlands, overseeing three hotels, including a boutique hotel in Den Hague.

Remco Groenhuijzen's education history includes obtaining a Certificate of Achievement in Valuation of Hotel Investments, Hotel Asset Management, and Feasibility Analyses, Development and Negotiations from EHL in 2021. Prior to that, Remco attended Hotelschool de Kogge from 1979 to 1983, where they pursued a degree in Operational studies. Before attending Hotelschool de Kogge, Remco completed a program in Scheepskok at Algemeen Consumptieve Opleiding from 1975 to 1979.
