Stefaan van Onsem M.D.

Stefaan Van Onsem MD PhD is an experienced orthopaedic surgeon currently serving at AZ Alma since September 2020 and holding the position of Honorary Fellow at Ghent University since October 2020. In addition, Stefaan is the Chief Medical Officer at Surgical Sensors and a Medical Board Member at moveUP, both roles initiated in 2022 and July 2016, respectively. As the President and co-founder of the Daktari Project vzw since July 2010, Stefaan supports Kilembe Mines Hospital in Uganda. Previous experience includes an Orthopaedic Fellowship at The Mater Private Hospital, residency at AZ Delta, and various board roles within the Belgian Orthopaedics and Traumatology Residents Association. Stefaan earned a Master of Specialist Medicine and a PhD in Health Sciences from Ghent University, alongside studies in Sports Medicine and a Doctor of Medicine degree.
