Andrew Spieldenner

Andrew Spieldenner has extensive work experience in the field of public health and HIV/AIDS prevention. Andrew is currently serving as the Executive Director at MPact Global Action for Gay Men's Health and Rights. Prior to this, they held academic positions at California State University San Marcos, where they were an Associate Professor from July 2020 onwards and an Assistant Professor from August 2017 to June 2020. Andrew also worked as a Visiting Scholar at Concordia University from August 2021 to July 2022.

Before their academic career, Andrew served as an Assistant Professor at Hofstra University from September 2012 to August 2017. Andrew held leadership roles in prominent HIV/AIDS organizations, including the Latino Commission on AIDS as the Deputy Director of Research/Director of Development from 2009 to 2012, the National Association of People with AIDS as the Director of Programs from 2005 to 2008, and the Black AIDS Institute as the Director of Development from 2002 to 2004. Additionally, they worked at the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene as the Health Media Manager from 1998 to 2001 and as the Director of the Men of Color AIDS Prevention Program from 1996 to 1998.

Early in their career, Andrew gained experience as the HIV Prevention Program Coordinator at LYRIC from 1992 to 1994. Overall, they have a diverse and accomplished background in public health advocacy and academia.

Andrew Spieldenner obtained their Bachelor's Degree in Ethnic Studies from the University of California, Berkeley from 1990 to 2000. Andrew then pursued a Master's Degree in Theater at the University of California, Los Angeles from 2003 to 2005. Following this, they furthered their education at Howard University, where they attained a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Communication and Culture from 2005 to 2009.
