Oscar Buitrago has over 25 years of experience in the engineering industry. Oscar began their career in 1994 as a Research and Development Engineer at Sunrise Medical Bio Clinic Inc. In 1996, they moved on to become a Production Manager at Oakley. In 1997, they were hired as a Manufacturing Engineering Manager at Bertolini Inc. where they were responsible for coordinating all manufacturing operations. In 2000, they joined TECSTAR Inc. as a Senior Quality Engineer and was responsible for developing acceptance travelers, quality plans, and other product assurance documents for solar cells and major solar array programs. In 2002, they became a Principal Design Engineer at SolAero Technologies Corp. where they were responsible for all aspects of electromechanical design and manufacturing. In 2013, they served as a Space Photovoltaics Consultant at Max Power Point. From 2014 to 2016, they were an Avionics Power Systems Engineer at SpaceX where they were primarily responsible for providing manufacturing and engineering support for the solar panels of the existing Dragon spacecraft. Oscar is currently employed as a Senior Design Engineer at mPower Technology, Inc. since 2020.

Oscar Buitrago obtained a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Mechanical Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley between 1988 and 1993. Oscar then obtained a Certification in Project Management from the University of California, Los Angeles in 2019 and 2020. Oscar also obtained a Certification in Space Power Systems from the University of California, Los Angeles in 2004.
