Daniel Cervelló has worked in various roles in the scientific and engineering fields since 2014. In 2014, they began as a Wastewater Treatment Plant and Utilities Engineer at Clariant. In this role, they supervised and monitored the WWTP and Utilities plant, managed data with SAP-QM, and updated analytical procedures according to the latest ISO version. In 2015, they worked as a Wastewater Treatment Plant and Utilities Project Engineer at Clariant, where they developed and validated an ASM3 model of the wastewater treatment plant for the COD removal and simulated model-based increased-load scenarios to determine the optimal performance of the WWTP under the present configuration. In the same year, they also worked as a Bioprocess Scientist/Engineer at Bioera SL, where they developed and optimized microbial (aerobic bacteria and filamentous fungi) fermentation processes, both batch and fed-batch modes in small and bench scale (up to 5L). Daniel also designed scale-up and transferred fermentation processes from lab scale to pilot plant (200L) and pre-production (2000L), as well as developed and optimized downstream processes, including separation and drying. In 2016, they worked as a Graduate Research Intern at TecnATox, Chemical Engineering School, Universitat Rovira i Virgili, where they researched the effect of iron oxide as a photocatalyzer on the photodegradation of Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons (PAH) by means of GC-MS and identified metabolites produced as a result of PAH decomposition. Finally, they are currently working as a Principal Scientist at MRM Health since 2022.
Daniel Cervelló completed their Bachelor of Science in Biotechnology from Universitat Rovira i Virgili in 2015, followed by a Master of Science in Environmental Engineering and Sustainable Production from the same university in 2016.
