Dphil Karla Strand Mlis

Karla Strand, DPhil, MLIS, currently serves as the Interim Collection Development Officer at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where responsibilities include managing the collections budget, setting policy, and advising the Associate Dean for Collections. Strand has extensive experience in library services, including roles such as Gender and Women's Studies Librarian and Head of Memorial Library Collections and Liaison Services. Additionally, Strand writes columns for Ms. Magazine and freelance pieces focusing on diverse authors and literature. Previous academic positions include adjunct instructor roles at Carroll University, where Strand developed courses and coordinated educational programs. Strand holds a DPhil in Information Science from the University of Pretoria, a master's degree in Library and Information Science from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, and a bachelor's degree in History and Women's Studies from Carroll University.
