Thomas Hessels

Thomas Hessels serves as the Managing Director and Chief Auditor at MUFG Bank Europe since March 2017, where responsibilities include leading the Internal Audit division and advising the Management Board and Audit Committee on internal control and risk management. Prior to this role, Thomas spent seven years at RBS in various positions, culminating in Regional Head of Audit in India, where leadership was provided for 45 local audit staff. Thomas's earlier experience includes roles at ABN AMRO Bank N.V., focusing on audit engagements across European branches, alongside a traineeship project in Private Equity. Educational qualifications include a Chartered Controller designation from Nyenrode Business University, a Master of Science in International Economics from Erasmus University Rotterdam, and a Bachelor of Science in Development Economics from Sapienza Università di Roma.
