Mazliham Mohd Su’ud

Prof. Mazliham was born on 8th September 1967 in Johor, and at the age of 19, he secured a government scholarship to Europe.

There, he obtained his Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Electronics, Electrotechniques and Automation from Université de Montpellier 2 – Sciences et Techniques du Languedoc, Montpellier, France, in 1991. His ties to Université de Montpellier 2 is very strong, considering that it was where he had earned his diploma in 1989, his Master of Science in Electronics, Electrotechniques and Automation in 1992, and his Post Master Degree in Electronics in 1993.

In 2008, he earned his Ph.D. in Computer Engineering from the Université de La Rochelle, France, accomplishing the Very Honorable class of achievement. He began his career with a one-year-plus stint as an engineer with SGS Thompson Microelectronics, before joining the Malaysia France Institute in 1996 as the Deputy Head of Department (Electrical Equipment and Installation).

In 2003, the institute became a branch campus of Universiti Kuala Lumpur (UniKL), and thus Prof Mazliham was brought into the UniKL fold. There, he rose through the ranks, until 2013, when he was appointed President and CEO of UniKL. Throughout his academic career thus far, he has served in 21 postgraduate examination committees, taught 9 subjects, supervised 11 Ph.D and 6 Master’s students, co-authored 26 published papers, and contributed to 4 books as well as 47 conference proceedings.

He has also served numerous roles, and racked up a host of other achievements, notably spearheading the Higher Technical and Vocational Education & Training (HTVET), an initiative designed to raise the standards of human capital who underwent vocational and technical training and many more.

In 2013, Prof Mazliham was conferred the Darjah Sri Sultan Ahmad Shah Pahang (D.S.A.P.) award, which carries the title of ‘Dato’. Then, in 2015, he was conferred the Chevalier de l’Ordre national du Mérite from the Government of France; it is a universal order honouring individuals with significant contributions to the nation of France.
