Chioma Amadi-Mgbenka, PhD, MPH has a diverse work experience in research, informatics, public health, and medical laboratories. Chioma currently holds the position of Associate Director of Research and Informatics at the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation, where they focus on integrating multi-omics and clinical data to advance multiple myeloma research and treatment. Chioma also investigates the relationship between genomic and immune biomarkers with myeloma disease and supports the development of clinical data analysis systems.
In addition, Chioma has worked as an Adjunct Assistant Professor and Adjunct Assistant Professor in Informatics at the CUNY Graduate School of Public Health and Health Policy, where they taught a graduate-level certificate program in Population Health Informatics. During their time there, they conducted literature reviews, data analysis, and research reporting, contributed to book chapters, and assisted with the development of a Population Health Informatics textbook. Chioma also worked on various local and international projects, including assessing and evaluating health technology interventions and monitoring and evaluating initiatives at the New York City Department of Health.
Prior to their academic roles, Chioma worked as a Senior Real World Evidence Technical/Medical Writer at Gilead Sciences, where they designed and implemented processes for study protocol development, collaborated with research teams to develop high-quality technical reports, and advanced public health knowledge and practice.
Chioma has also held positions as a Senior Population Health Epidemiologist at the Virginia Department of Health, where they focused on population health analysis, and as a Research Assistant and Volunteer Research Assistant at the Center for Global Health and Development, University of Nebraska Medical Center.
Chioma's early work experience includes roles as a Medical Laboratory Analyst at Shepherd Specialist Hospital and as a Quality Control Analyst at Emzor Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd.
Throughout their career, Chioma has demonstrated a strong background in research, informatics, and public health, with a focus on utilizing data and technology to improve health outcomes and advance knowledge in various areas of healthcare.
Chioma Amadi-Mgbenka, PhD, MPH has a diverse and extensive education history. Chioma obtained their Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degree in Biochemistry from Imo State University in 2009. In 2012, they pursued a field of study in Behavioral and Community Health at UNT Health Science Center for a brief period.
Building on their foundation in health sciences, Chioma pursued a Master of Public Health (MPH) degree in Epidemiology at the University of Nebraska Medical Center from 2013 to 2014. Chioma then went on to City University of New York, where they completed their Doctor of Public Health degree in Epidemiology from 2015 to 2020.
In addition to their academic achievements, Chioma has obtained certifications in various areas. Chioma acquired expertise in Statistical Analysis Software (SAS) from SAS in July 2015. Furthermore, they obtained certifications in Monitoring and Evaluation, Oracle Database Management, and Pharmacovigilance from MEASURE Evaluation, New Horizons Computer Learning Centers, and the Upsala Monitoring Centre, respectively.
