Matthias Grandel

Matthias Grandel is an experienced professional in the insurance and reinsurance industry, currently serving as the Head of Retroactive Reinsurance Solutions at Munich Re since April 2010. In this role, Matthias specializes in the worldwide structuring and underwriting of retroactive reinsurance solutions. Previously, Matthias held positions including Head of Analysis & Structuring and Senior Underwriter, focusing on financial analysis, pricing models, and market assessments for retroactive reinsurance. Before joining Munich Re, Matthias worked as a Senior Treaty Underwriter and Actuarial Consultant at Swiss Re from July 2001 to March 2010 and contributed to actuarial services at Bavarian Re from May 1996 to July 2001. Matthias earned a Diplom in Mathematics and Economics from the University of Ulm between 1990 and 1996.
