Aongus Hegarty has a diverse and extensive work experience spanning several companies and industries. Aongus started their career in 1989 at Digital Equipment Corporation (USA), where they held various management positions. Aongus then joined ModusLink in 1994 as a General Manager before moving to Dell Technologies in 1999 as General Manager for the UK and Ireland Small & Medium Business, and later as General Manager for the Netherlands and Belgium.
At Dell Technologies, Hegarty held various roles, including Vice President and General Manager of Consumer & SME (CSME) EMEA, Vice President of Sales, and Vice President of Marketing. Aongus also served as President of Europe, Middle East, and Africa, where they led the strategic implementation of the company's business and go-to-market strategy. Additionally, they were President of International Markets, responsible for Dell's business and strategy across several global regions.
Hegarty's work experience also includes leadership roles at the American Chamber of Commerce to the European Union (AmCham EU), where they served as Chair and Vice-Chair of the Executive Council. Aongus was involved in leading the strategy to enhance Europe's competitiveness globally and create a growth-oriented business climate for US companies.
Outside of Dell Technologies and AmCham EU, Hegarty has contributed to various organizations. Aongus served as a Member of the Council of Patrons for Special Olympics Ireland and Advisory Board Member for 30% Club Ireland. Aongus was also involved with Balance for Better Business as Co-Chair and Member of the Review Group.
Currently, Hegarty is affiliated with Munster Rugby, where they hold the position of Chair of the Commercial Advisory Group. Aongus is also a member of the Commercial Advisory Group at the organization.
Throughout their career, Hegarty has gained valuable experience in international markets, strategy implementation, business leadership, and driving revenue and profitability targets.
Aongus Hegarty completed their education history with a Bachelor of Business Studies degree in Accounting and Finance from the University of Limerick, which they obtained from 1985 to 1989. Aongus furthered their education by becoming a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Management Accounting (CIMA) starting from 1992. In 2019, they also obtained a Life Fellowship certification from the Irish Management Institute.
