William Ilgenfritz has a diverse work experience spanning over several decades. William has held various roles in different companies. William started their career as a Therapist II at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center in 1993, where they managed the night shift of the respiratory department. After that, they worked as an Area Director at Respiratory Health Services from 1999 to 2000. From 2000 to 2005, they served as the Regional Director of Operations at Grane Healthcare with a focus on multi-facility management. William then joined Golden Living Centers as an Executive Director from 2005 to 2007. During this time, they successfully improved census and morale while exceeding the budget and reducing citations. Following that, they worked as a Consultant at Ilgenfritz Consulting, where they provided assistance to various companies in areas such as governmental regulations, JCAHO prep, and developed forecasts using detailed spreadsheets. William later became a Senior Executive Director at Communicare Health Services from 2008 to 2011. Also, they worked as an Administrator (Consultant) at Ilgenfritz Consulting from 2011 to 2013, where they mentored a new administrator, negotiated beneficial contracts, managed a budget of $26 million, and made recommendations for facility operations. Finally, they became the Managing Director of the Pittsburgh office at Murphy Business and Financial in 2016. In addition to their professional experience, they also owned GreenScape Horticultural Services from 2013 to 2018, specializing in interior plantscaping, exterior landscaping, and holiday and silk decorating.

William Ilgenfritz has a diverse education history. In 1984, they obtained a diploma from Seton LaSalle High School. William then pursued a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Health Services Administration from Point Park University, which they completed between 1992 and 1996. During this time, from 1991 to 1993, they also attended the Western School of Health and Business and obtained an A.S. in Respiratory Therapy with a focus on Respiratory Care Therapy/Therapist. In 1998, William furthered their education by earning a Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) degree in Business Administration and Management, General from Point Park University.

In 2020, William engaged in additional education to enhance their professional skills. William completed a certification program in Negotiation Mastery from Harvard Business School Online and also became a Certified Business Intermediary through the International Business Brokers Association (IBBA). The Negotiation Mastery Certification and Certified Business Intermediary designations were both earned in 2020.
