We are currently recruiting an Unmanned Area Vehicle (UAV) Operator to join our Survey & UAV department. This position exercises considerable latitude in overseeing UAV ground and flight operations efforts including mission planning, execution and briefing, debriefing, aircrew resource management and ground & flight safety. The ideal candidate will have a background in Geomatic Surveying with a keen interest/previous experience in the Operation of UAV’s.

What will I be doing in my new role?

  • Detailed aerial topographical surveys and building inspections using the latest drone and photogrammetry technology.
  • Operating drones, taking photographs and videos of specific areas.
  • Processing and transferring captured data to our servers.
  • Instruct and help other UAV pilots in ground and flight operations.
  • Develop and verify procedures for use with new aircraft features and participate in the development of operational and safety procedures.
  • Determine compliance with specification and operational suitability during engineering tests and conduct flight support through specifically prescribed tests and specifications.
  • Define, plan, organise, and execute flight plans and schedules.
  • Ensure compliance with service guidance, company policy & procedures and EU and Irish Aviation Authority regulations.
  • Conduct demonstrations and participate in operational and experimental ground and flight testing of assigned UAV(s).
  • Represent the Company with commercial customers.
  • Perform as Pilot-in-Command of Company Unmanned Air Vehicles.
  • Utilize various manuals such as Drone Flight Manuals, the Operations Manual, and other documents and reports to ascertain factors such as aircraft condition, route, schedule, and mechanical reliability.
  • Any other duties as required by the business.

What qualifications/ previous experience do I need?

  • Education in a technical field (drone maintenance, electronics, surveying, geodesy or similar).

  • Extensive UAV flying experience

  • Ability to work hands-on with small UAV systems, including assembly, disassembly, testing, and troubleshooting.

  • Ability to work outdoors under various temperatures and weather conditions.

  • Large Scale UAV operations experience (desired but not essential).

  • Knowledge of EU and Irish aviation legislation (desired but not essential).

  • Experience in aerial surveying, spatial data capture and post-processing (desired but not essential).

  • Operating UAVs as a hobbyist or as a professional pilot will be considered an advantage.

  • Flexibility to travel nationwide as required by our clients.

  • Full clean EU/Irish driving license.

  • The right to work in Ireland.
