Raquel Herrera-Soto is an associate and member of the firm’s Energy, Environmental & Utilities and Renewable Energy Practice Groups.
Since joining Murtha in 2021, Raquel has worked with a variety of individuals and companies in the energy and public utility sectors on matters related to permitting, compliance and commercial transactions. She also completed a short-term assignment in the offices of one of the firm’s clients where she assisted their in-house legal department with energy and corporate matters. Raquel’s practice includes monitoring and updating clients on regulatory agency actions; preparing applications, motions and filings for agency proceedings; researching statutory and regulatory requirements related to proposed projects; and preparing agreements for corporate transactions.
Raquel spent 10+ years working on permitting and regulatory matters for the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection. That experience, which provided insight into what regulatory bodies look for when determining compliance, allows her to provide strategic counsel on issues her clients face. Her position with the state also offered the opportunity to work with different industries and learn about the various technologies and processes employed in their operations.
