Holly Gillette has a strong background in museum education and art programs. Holly started their career as an Education Intern at the Crocker Art Museum in 2009, where they gained experience in educational programming. Holly then became an Educator and Program Assistant at the museum, teaching on the mobile truck, facilitating art camps, and managing interactive spaces for children. In 2012, they joined the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) as an Education Coordinator for School, Teacher, and Community Programs. During their tenure, they developed and maintained strategic partnerships with schools and community organizations, managed budgets, and trained teaching artists. Holly later became the Manager of Mobile Programs at LACMA, overseeing interactive art education spaces that traveled to schools throughout Los Angeles County. In their most recent role at LACMA, as Director of School, Teacher, and Community Programs, Holly provided leadership in best practices in museum education, supervised a team, and managed a budget. In 2018, they worked as a Contract Teaching Artist at the Norton Simon Museum, teaching art classes to children and their caregivers. Holly also has experience as a Research Assistant at Loyola Marymount University, where they collected data for a dissertation on art museums and Latino English learners. Holly Gillette earned a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Art History and Studio Art from the University of California, Davis, graduating in 2010. Holly further pursued their education at the Bank Street College of Education from 2012 to 2014, earning a Masters of Science in Education (MSEd) with a specialization in Leadership in Museum Education. Holly also engaged in continuing studies at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, specifically in the field of TIME, Teaching Institute in Museum Education, until 2015. Additionally, Holly Gillette obtained a certification in Social and Behavioral Research from Loyola Marymount University in July 2017.
