Jayne Manuel

Program Administrator, Collections Management at MUSEUM ASSOCIATES

Jayne Manuel has extensive work experience in various roles within the museum and cultural arts sector. From July 2018 to the present, they have been a Registration Administrator for Outgoing Loans at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA). Before that, they served as a Registration Administrator for Loans from April 2017 to June 2018, and as a Registration Administrator for Large Collections from May 2016 to March 2017. In these positions, Jayne oversaw the registration and digitization of collections, worked with conservation teams, and assisted in rehousing and treatment practices.

Prior to their work at LACMA, Jayne was a Registrar Intern for Exhibitions at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art from September 2015 to April 2016. Here, they supported Exhibition Registrars in various tasks such as assembling courier paperwork, processing condition reports, and tracking inventory.

In 2016, Jayne also worked as a Museum Experience Intern at the Pasadena Museum of California Art. During their time there, they assisted in the installation of spring season exhibitions, created a docent guide for a retrospective exhibition, and coordinated the documentation of a project room installation.

In 2015, Jayne was a Production Apprentice at Los Angeles Contemporary Exhibitions, where they managed collections, assisted in gallery preparation and installation, and performed general duties including front desk coverage and event production.

Lastly, in 2013-2014, Jayne served as the Joy de la Cruz Art & Activism Intern at the UC San Diego Cross-Cultural Center. Here, they managed and installed exhibitions, collaborated with other campus entities, and promoted resources for student artists and art events.

Overall, Jayne has demonstrated their expertise in registration, collections management, exhibition support, and museum operations through their diverse work experience.

Jayne Manuel completed their Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Art History, Theory, & Criticism, with minors in Studio Art and Business, from UC San Diego in the years 2011 to 2015. Jayne then pursued further education at Arizona State University, where they earned a Master's degree in Art History from 2021 to 2024.
