Rachel Kaplan has a extensive work experience in the field of art curation. Rachel started their career as a Curatorial Intern at The Phillips Collection in 2006. Rachel then worked as a Records Technician at the Philadelphia Museum of Art from 2007 to 2008. In 2009, they became a Curatorial Intern at the Guggenheim Museum. Rachel joined New York University in 2012 as a Grader and also worked as a Museum Research Consortium Fellow at The Museum of Modern Art from 2013 to 2014. In 2015, they began working at Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) as a Wallis Annenberg Curatorial Fellow and later transitioned to the role of Assistant Curator, Latin American Art from 2017 to 2022. Currently, they hold the position of Associate Curator, Latin American Art at LACMA starting from September 2022.
Rachel Kaplan earned a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Art History and Spanish from Wesleyan University, where they attended from 2003 to 2007. Rachel then pursued further education at The Institute of Fine Arts, NYU, earning a Master of Arts (M.A.) degree in Art History, Criticism and Conservation from 2008 to 2010. Rachel Kaplan continued their academic journey at The Institute of Fine Arts, NYU, and obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in Art History, Criticism and Conservation from 2008 to 2015.
