Sofia Esther Mas

Sofia Esther Mas has a diverse range of work experience in the arts and education field. Sofia Esther started their career in 2006 as a Gallery Educator at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Los Angeles. From there, they gained experience as a Public Events Intern at the Social Public Art Resource Center and as an Artist in Education Internship at Southern Exposure. In 2009, they became a Volunteer at the Headlands Center for the Arts and also worked as a School Outreach Educator at the San Jose Museum of Art.

In 2010, Sofia Esther Mas joined the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco as an Education Intern, and in 2011, they became a Teaching Artist and Artist Assistant at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. Sofia Esther continued their work in education and the arts as a Visual Arts Teacher at Arts In Action Community Charter Schools.

From 2013 to 2017, they worked at artworxLA (formerly The HeArt Project) as a Workshop Coordinator and Teaching Artist. In 2015, they became a Visual Arts Teacher at the Los Angeles Unified School District. Additionally, they worked as a Substitute Teacher at the district.

Prior to that, Sofia obtained a Credential in Art Teacher Education from California State University, Long Beach. This credential was earned between 2015 and 2018, preparing their to become an art teacher.

Before pursuing their teaching credentials, Sofia completed a Bachelor's degree in Art History from California State University, Northridge. Sofia Esther studied at this institution from 2006 to 2009.
