Maru Lopez is an experienced professional in the field of education and engagement within the arts, currently serving as the Manager of Education and Engagement at the Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego since April 2021, having previously held roles such as Museum Educator Supervisor and Lead Education and Engagement Associate. Maru is also a Board Member for the Society of North American Goldsmiths since July 2022 and was previously a Lead Engagement Liaison at the Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego from October 2019 to September 2020. Earlier experience includes positions as Gallery Educator and Visitor Experience Associate at Mingei International Museum from September 2013 to September 2018. Maru's educational background includes a Master of Arts in Critical Craft Studies from Warren Wilson College, a Professional Degree in Contemporary Jewellery from Alchimia Scuola di Gioielleria Contmporanea, an Associate of Arts and Sciences in Fashion/Apparel Design from Parsons School of Design, coursework towards a Master's degree in History at Universidad de Puerto Rico, and a Bachelor's degree in Latin American and Caribbean History from the same institution.
