Thibault

Thibault is the CSO and Co-Founder at MushLabs. Prior to this, they worked as a Process Engineer at Ohly from September 2015 to January 2019. There, they were responsible for managing strategic projects and cooperations with external partners, troubleshooting and optimising existing fermentation processes, developing new fermentation recipes for production of extract and active dry yeast, optimising and developing drying processes for production of wine yeast and probiotic S.boulardii, transferring of new R&D products from lab to production scale, and statistical analysis of process data.

Before Ohly, Thibault worked as a Research Associate - PhD Thesis at Technical University of Braunschweig from October 2010 to August 2015. Their thesis was on Systems biology of stress in Bacillus megaterium and its industrial applications. During their PhD thesis, they had to fully characterize the adaptation mechanisms triggered in response to heat, cold and osmotic stress in the Gram-positive bacteria B. megaterium. To do so, they carried out a holistic study including transcriptome, proteome, metabolome and flux analysis and developed a system-wide approach for describing the impact of stress on cell metabolism, gene regulation and pathway utilization. With the collected data, they could furthermore propose interesting genetic targets for the production of industrially relevant products such as polyhydroxybutyric acid (PHB), a promising biopolymer, and the amino acid proline. Implementation of these genetic modifications in new strains led to a significant increase in production yields and proved that the utility of systems biology is not only limited to the comprehension of cell physiology but can also be applied to improve current biotechnological workhorses.

Thibault has a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Biotechnology/Bioengineering from Technische Universität Braunschweig, a Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Chemical Engineering and Biochemical Engineering from Technische Universität Braunschweig, and a Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Chemical Engineering from Université de Technologie de Compiègne (UTC). Thibault also has a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Engineering Technology, General from Université de Technologie de Troyes and a high school diploma in Sciences - Speciality: Mathematics from Lycée Hugues Capet Senlis.

Thibault reports to Mazen, Founder & CEO. Some individuals on their team include Marianne - Junior Research Scientist, Laura - R&D Intern, and Sonia - Founders Associate. They work with Anne-Cathrine - VP of Product & Co-Founder, Michael - VP of Brand Marketing, and Philip - CFO.
