Deb Cavanaugh has a diverse work experience spanning over several decades. Deb started their career as a music teacher at the Albany Free School in 1982, where they worked until 1995. During this time, they also freelanced as a children's musician. In 1997, Deb became an Artist Educator, presenting music performances and workshops for young people and adults. Deb also taught individual and group lessons in various instruments such as guitar, mandolin, mountain dulcimer, piano, voice, and songwriting.

In 2000, Deb worked as an editor for Play Today the Bubar Way until 2006. Deb then joined Heldeberg Music Together in 2005 as a Director/Teacher. Deb'sresponsibilities included directing the center, promoting and advertising, obtaining and maintaining registrations, and creating lesson plans for music classes for children aged birth to 8 with caregivers. Deb also taught mixed-age classes for families with children aged birth through 4, and additionally offered Big Kid classes and Guitar classes for adults.

Deb also became a member of the Albany Musicians' Association, Local 14 AFM in 2008. In 2010, they joined The Children's Music Network. In 2016, Deb became a Music Teacher at Bethlehem Children's School, where they worked until March 2020.

Throughout their career, Deb has been a performer at various venues and has worked as a freelance music teacher. Deb is a talented singer/songwriter and entertainer, proficient in multiple instruments including voice, piano, guitar, mountain dulcimer, mandolin, and more.

Deb Cavanaugh has a diverse education history in various fields, including music theory, songwriting, creative writing, composition, education, and early child development. From 1982 to 2018, they attended various workshops and classes to further their knowledge in these areas. Prior to that, from 1974 to 1981, they also participated in various workshops and classes focusing on music theory, creative writing, education, and composition. In 1972, they briefly attended the University of Bridgeport, where they studied creative writing. From 1963 to 1973, they received private lessons in piano, voice, and music theory. Lastly, in 1971 and 1972, they studied music theory and applied music at Seton Hill University.
