Carolyn Smith-Gerdes has extensive experience in the field of special education. Carolyn started their career as a Special Education Teacher at Reeths-Puffer Schools in 1985 and worked there until 1988. After that, they joined Newaygo County RESA as a Supervisor of Special Education and served in that role for almost two decades, from 1988 to 2007. In 2007, they joined Muskegon Area ISD as the Assistant Director of Special Education, where they currently hold a position.
Carolyn Smith-Gerdes holds an M. Ed. degree in Administration of Special Education, which they earned in 1988 from Grand Valley State University. Prior to that, they completed an M.S. degree in Special Education and Teaching from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1982. Carolyn'seducational journey started with a B.A. degree in Psychology from the same university in 1975. The exact years of their studies are not provided.
