Earlier in their career at Microsoft, they worked as an Escalation Engineer from November 1998 to August 2004, handling critical 3rd tier escalations for ASP.Net, IIS, and security-related issues. Additionally, they worked as a Technical Lead for a team of 15 support engineers, supporting Microsoft's top-tier enterprise customers from February 1998 to November 1998. Todd also served as a Support Engineer from March 1997 to February 1998, providing support for SNA Server and Windows NT products.

Todd Carter has a Master of Science (MS) degree in Software Engineering from Southern Methodist University, which they obtained between the years 2004 and 2006. Prior to that, they earned a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Accounting from Wesley College, Delaware, during the period of 1994 to 1996.

In addition to their formal education, Todd Carter has obtained various certifications from Microsoft.
