Principal Operations Engineer at Seismic

Lex Band has worked in a variety of engineering roles since 2004. Starting in 2004, they were a Field Assistant at Envirovision, where they assisted the Senior Geologist with collection of water and soil samples for Phase I and Phase II environmental reports, as well as assist in report preparation. In 2008, they became a Research Assistant at the University of Colorado at Boulder, where they designed and fabricated a synthesis chamber to ensure proper atmospheric conditions during the photo-polymerization process, and also provided support when lab equipment needed to be repaired or designed. In 2011, they held two internships, one as a Mechanical Engineer Intern at Excitron Corporation and the other as an Applications Engineer Intern at Rapidform Inc. In 2012, they became a Mechanical Engineer at Standex Cooking Solutions Group, where they were responsible for improving quality, minimizing manufacturing costs, supervising and executing engineering change requests, and updating designs to comply with various multinational safety requirements. In 2013, they were a Senior Mechanical Engineer at Inland Metal Technologies, where they managed vendors, worked with customers, designed industrial automation fixtures and equipment, performed contract design engineering, and trained employees in the application of Geomagic Verify and a FARO Edge CMM for 3D GD&T quality inspections. In 2016, they became a Quality and Manufacturing Engineer at Berkeley Lab, where they developed production scale quality management systems. In 2018, they were a Senior Manufacturing Engineer at Berkeley Lights, Inc., where they worked as a Design Engineer, Manufacturing Engineer, Quality Engineer, NPI Manager, and Test Engineer. Finally, in 2021, they became a Lead Manufacturing Engineer at Seismic.

Lex Band obtained a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Colorado Boulder in 2011. Lex then attended the US Army Ordinance School, graduating as a Distinguished Honor Graduate in 2012 with a focus on Small Arms & Artillery Repair. In May 2011, they were also certified as an EIT by the NCEES.
