Director, Vaccines, Biological & Medical Devices Laboratory Services at NAFDAC Nigeria

Mrs. Adekunle-Segun Olawale is the Pioneer Director of the Vaccines, Biologicals and Medical Devices Laboratory Services Directorate (VBM-LSD) which was established in August 5, 2022. She has a BSc degree in Chemistry and Master’s in Environmental Management both from the University of Lagos. She has thirty-three (33) years experience in the laboratory and was at a time awarded the best Unit head of Laboratory during her service in the Central Drug Control Laboratory. She was posted to the then National Control Laboratory for Biologics (NCLB) in 2016 and was made the Head of Laboratory. She participated as the Head of the Laboratory in the ISO 17025 accreditation of the Vaccine Laboratory in 2018 which was achieved within six (6) months from the time of expression of interest for the accreditation. She coordinates, implements and improves the Quality Management System in the laboratory, ensures effective management of testing procedures and coordinates the Good Laboratory Practices programs. She participated in a survey on the valuation of Covid-19 Antigen and Antibody Rapid Diagnostic test kits and write up on “The safety and quality Evaluation of Covid-19 Vaccines imported and used in Nigeria” yet to be published. She is a member of African Medical Device Forum (AMDF) representing NAFDAC and participated in drafting of the WHO GBT (World Health Organization, Global Benchmarking Tool) for Medical Devices including IVDs.
