Brenda Rourke, PhD, currently serves as a Communication Research Scientist at the National Association of Insurance Commissioners since May 2023. Prior to this role, Brenda was an Assistant Professor at Northwest Missouri State University from August 2019 to May 2023, focusing on academic interests such as New Communication Technology, Identification, Person Perception, Persuasion, and Autism Spectrum Disorders. Brenda taught various courses including Fundamentals of Oral Communication, Public Speaking, and Propaganda and Persuasion. Earlier experience includes serving as a Teaching Assistant, Doctoral Student, and Researcher at the University of Connecticut from 2011 to 2019 and holding positions at Cox Communications from 2000 to 2010, including Network Operations Specialist. Educational credentials include a PhD in Communication and Media Studies from the University of Connecticut, a Master of Arts from the same institution, and a Bachelor of Arts from Rhode Island College.
