Erik Skiles

Erik Skiles has a diverse work experience spanning over several years. Erik currently holds the role of AI Practice Lead at Nakupuna Companies, where they lead the design, development, and implementation of solutions using Artificial Intelligence technologies to tackle complex government challenges. Prior to this, Erik was the Principal Data Scientist Manager at SparkCognition Government Systems (SGS), where they managed a team of data scientists. Erik also worked as a Senior Software Engineer at SparkCognition, where they collaborated with customers and sales teams to identify opportunities for applying Natural Language Processing (NLP) technologies to business problems. Before joining SparkCognition, Erik served as an Engineering Scientist at Applied Research Laboratories, The University of Texas at Austin. Erik also worked at TrueCar, Inc. as a Java Developer, at Textron Systems as a Software Engineer II, at Ultra Electronics Advanced Tactical Systems as a Software Engineer, and in the US Army as a 98C Signals Intelligence Instructor & Supervisor.

Erik Skiles holds a Master's degree in Computational Linguistics from The University of Texas at Austin, which they earned from 2009 to 2012. Prior to that, they obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science with a focus on Software Engineering from Franklin University, completing their studies between 2004 and 2007. Earlier in their education, they attended the Defense Language Institute in 1999-2000, specializing in Chinese Mandarin. Erik Skiles also holds an Associate of Science degree from Cuesta College, which they received from 1993 to 1995.
