Director-department Of Community Developement at NAMI San Diego

Renee Cookson's work experience includes being the Director of the Department of Community Development at NAMI San Diego, where they oversee day-to-day operations, recruits and manages staff and volunteers, and develops policies and procedures. Renee also served as the Program Manager for the Consumer and Family Technology Project at NAMI San Diego, where they provided services and tools for individuals facing mental illness. Prior to that, they worked as a Case Manager II at the University of Nevada School of Medicine and held the positions of Director of Operations and Psycho Social Rehabilitation Specialist at Goals 4 Success. Additionally, they served on the Board of Directors and as Vice President for NV Homeless Alliance and on the Board of Directors as an Officer for the Nevada Homeless Alliance.

Renee Cookson completed their Project Management Certification Program (PMCP) at San Diego City College in 2016. Prior to that, they earned a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Therapeutic Recreation/Recreational Therapy from The University of Southern Mississippi. In terms of additional certifications, Renee obtained an EAGALA certification and CTRS certification as a Therapeutic Recreation Specialist from a national institution in December 2012. Renee also holds a Housing Quality Standards (HQS) Certification from Nan McKay and Associates (NMA). Additionally, Renee has certifications in SNAP and SOAR, obtained from NV and the Social Security Administration respectively.
