Rustem Khafizov

Principal Scientist at NanoString

Rustem Khafizov has a strong background in scientific research and development. Rustem has worked at various companies and institutions, starting in 2011 with Life Technologies as an intern, where they contributed to the development of new methods for sequencing human DNA. In 2012, they joined Eve Biomedical, Inc. as a scientist, focusing on the development of a rotation-dependent transcriptional sequencing technology. Rustem obtained the first rotational sequencing data during their time there. In the same year, they also started working at NanoString Technologies, Inc., where they held several roles, including Scientist and Senior Scientist, contributing to the development of Hyb & Seq Technology and the Spatial Molecular Imager (SMI) technology. Rustem has a Ph.D. from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where they worked as a research assistant, specializing in the mechanical studies of E. coli SSB bound to ssDNA.

Rustem Khafizov earned a PhD in Physics (Single molecule Biophysics) from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign from 2006 to 2012. Prior to that, they obtained an MS in Physics from the same university from 2006 to 2008.
