Steve Lester

Steve Lester is a seasoned expert in uLED technology and semiconductor materials, currently serving as VP and Senior Technical Fellow at Nanosys since April 2022, focusing on uLED development for displays and AR/VR applications. Previous roles include uLED Display Architect for Facebook, where responsibilities encompassed managing uLED performance roadmaps and leading external partnerships. Steve also held significant positions such as Chief Technical Scientist at Exagan, Vice President of Technology Executive at Toshiba America Electronic Components, and CTO of Bridgelux, where key contributions included advancing GaN-on-Si technology and solid-state lighting. Steve's extensive experience in compound semiconductors began at Hewlett-Packard, leading to numerous innovations in LED materials and devices. Steve holds a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from The University of Texas at Austin, along with a Master's degree from the University of California, Berkeley, and a Bachelor's degree from The University of Texas at Austin.
