Jerry Gnuschke

Vice President, Licensing and Ventures at NantWorks

Jerry Gnuschke has a long and varied work experience in the field of intellectual property. Jerry has worked in various roles for NantWorks, BlackBerry, HTC, Microsoft, ExBiblio, AT&T Wireless Services, Inc., Nokia, and G & B.

Beginning in 1998, they worked as an Associate Attorney at G & B, a firm specializing in patent law in Dallas, Texas. Jerry brought in two new Fortune 500 clients while there. In 1999, they moved to Nokia as Intellectual Property Counsel for Networks and Latin America, where they drafted and prosecuted patents and managed a strategic patent litigation.

In 2001, they became Chief Patent Counsel at AT&T Wireless Services, Inc., where they managed all patent prosecution and drafting, created a successful patent licensing program, and worked with many telecommunication industry standards organizations.

In 2005, they took on two positions: Sr. Attorney at Microsoft, where they were responsible for all intellectual property matters for the Unified Communications Group, Microsoft Business Solutions, and Microsoft Exchange, and Sr. Vice President of Intellectual Property at ExBiblio, where they helped a friend draft and file a number of patent applications.

From 2011 to 2015, they were Sr. Director of Legal Affairs, IP Strategy & Licensing at HTC, where they were responsible for patent licensing and global IP strategy and was Chief Counsel for HTC's research group.

Most recently, they have been Vice President of Licensing and Ventures at NantWorks since 2017. Jerry previously held the same role at BlackBerry from 2015 to 2017, where they led BlackBerry's global patent licensing team and IP-related ventures, and lead IP licensing negotiations with all major telecom and automotive companies.

Jerry Gnuschke obtained their B.S. in Electrical Engineering from The University of Memphis between 1980 and 1986. Jerry then went on to obtain their M.S. in Computer Engineering from Old Dominion University between 1988 and 1992. Finally, they completed their J.D. in Law from William & Mary Law School between 1995 and 1998.
