Nick Witchey has had a long and varied career in the field of intellectual property. Nick began their career in 1985 as an undergraduate and graduate student at The Ohio State University. In 1993, they became a Physics Research Assistant at Kansas State University. In 1996, they moved to U S Software as an Engineering Manager. From 2001 to 2005, they were the Director of Software Engineering at Lantronix, where they built a software team from scratch and oversaw development of a new operating system, a proprietary embedded version of .NET, and new intellectual property. From 2005 to 2008, they were a Senior Patent Agent at Fish & Associates, where they worked closely with clients developing their patent portfolios, with a special focus on high-tech, Internet based start-ups and Fortune 100 companies. Since 2014, they have been at NantWorks, first as the Head of Intellectual Property and then as the Senior Director of IP Development. In this role, they work with an amazing team of engineers and scientists to build strategic patent portfolios in support of the business objectives of the Nantworks corporate ecosystem.
Nick Witchey completed their B.Sc. in Engineering Physics, Math, and Computer Science from The Ohio State University in 1989. Nick then went on to complete their M.Sc. in Physics from The Ohio State University in 1992. In 1993, they began studying Physics at Kansas State University and continued until 1996. In 1996, they completed their Ph.D. in Physics from The Ohio State University.
