Ms Lai Wei Lin is the 2nd Permanent Secretary (Education) in Singapore’s Ministry of Education. She oversees the development, planning and review of higher education policies and programmes, and works with SkillsFuture Singapore, the Institute of Technical Education, polytechnics and Autonomous Universities, as well as other providers to ensure smooth implementation. She also oversees MOE’s efforts to strengthen academic and social support for disadvantaged students from preschool to higher education, and policy and planning for the preschool, special education and student care sectors. These efforts support the Ministry’s mission to provide Singaporeans with a well-rounded education, develop them to their full potential, and nurture them into citizens with strong civic-consciousness.

Prior to her current role, Wei Lin served as the Deputy Secretary (Policy) in MOE for more than 2 years. Before joining MOE, she spent 7 years in the Ministry of Health, during which she led policy development and implementation in various areas, including healthcare financing, systems planning, manpower and leadership development, as well as corporate communications and human resource functions for the Ministry.

Wei Lin currently sits on the Boards of Nanyang Technological University and the Singapore University of Technology and Design.

Wei Lin graduated from Harvard University, and has been with the Singapore Administrative Service since. She was awarded the Eisenhower Fellowship in 2018.
