Roger Torbert

Roger Torbert currently serves as the Director of Education at Nashville Zoo, a position held since October 2021. Prior to this role, Roger was the Vice President for Education at Birmingham Zoo from January 2014 to October 2021. Roger's career in education began with positions such as Administrator at Hoover City Schools (July 2008 - January 2014), Instructional Technology Specialist at Vestavia Hills City School District (2007 - 2008), and Curriculum Director at Duke School (2005 - 2007). Roger also worked as Special Areas Coordinator at Highlands School from 1998 to 2005. Roger holds a Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education from the University of Alabama at Birmingham, as well as a Master of Library and Information Science from The University of Alabama, and has completed postgraduate work in Education Leadership at the University of Alabama at Birmingham.
