Thomas Buckingham has extensive work experience in the insurance industry. Thomas began their career at Phoenix Life Insurance Company in 1999 as an Actuarial Program Participant and subsequently served in various roles including AVP & Pricing Actuary, VP & Chief of Staff to CEO, and VP, Operations Transformation. In 2007, they were promoted to SVP, Life & Annuity Product Development where they led product design, pricing, implementation, and management for life insurance and annuity lines of business. During this time, they launched a company record 8 new products and took on additional responsibilities to lead asset retention efforts. In 2010, Buckingham became SVP, Product Implementation & Operations where they were responsible for implementing and managing insurance products and improving customer service and retention. Thomas was promoted again in 2012 to EVP, Product & Operations, where they oversaw life insurance and annuity lines of business, maintained strong sales volume, and improved the value of new business despite challenges. In 2016, they joined Nassau Financial Group as COO of Phoenix Life Insurance Company, managing a $50M+ budget and leading the life insurance and annuity lines of business. Thomas later served as Chief Product & Service Officer before assuming their current role as Chief Growth Officer in 2021. In this position, Buckingham is responsible for managing the life insurance and annuity lines of business, product development, marketing, and strategic administration platform consolidation. Thomas has successfully led contract negotiations and system implementations resulting in significant cost savings for the company. Throughout their career, Buckingham has demonstrated strong leadership skills, strategic planning abilities, and a commitment to achieving business growth and success.

Thomas Buckingham studied at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute from 1995 to 1999, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics and a Master of Business Administration in Management. After completing their education, Thomas obtained certifications including becoming a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries in 2003 and a Member of the American Academy of Actuaries in 2002.
