Aline Sara

CEO & Co-Founder at NaTakallam

Aline Sara is the CEO and Co-Founder of NaTakallam, an award-winning social enterprise that connects refugees and displaced people to remote work opportunities in the language sector. To date, more than 160 displaced persons have self-generated $1,500,000 through translation jobs or by connecting with over 10,000 unique users, who sign up as individuals or through K-12 and university partnerships (including Yale, Georgetown, Columbia, and others). NaTakallam has been featured in dozens of media outlets, notably in Fast Company, PBS, NPR, Al Jazeera and Reuters and by the UNHCR in two recent videos.

Sara has a background in research and reporting, having worked as a researcher/reporter for the Lebanese American University from March to June 2015. It was during their time at the university that they developed an interest in social entrepreneurship and the potential for businesses to create positive social impact. This interest led their to co-found NaTakallam, which has gone on to have a profound impact on the lives of refugees and displaced people around the world.

Aline Sara has a background in psychology and philosophy, holding a BS from Tufts University. Aline also has a Baccalauréat Scientifique from the Lycée Français de New York. Her graduate studies are in international affairs, with a focus in human rights, conflict resolution, international media, and advocacy from Columbia University's School of International and Public Affairs. Aline is also a graduate of the INSEAD Social Entrepreneurship Programme, where they studied entrepreneurship and entrepreneurial studies. Additionally, Aline Sara is fluent in Arabic, having studied it at the American University of Beirut.
