Casey Gibson

Casey Gibson is an Associate Program Officer at the National Academy of Engineering, focusing on projects related to the CESER program, which emphasizes cultural, ethical, social, and environmental responsibility in engineering. Prior experience includes serving as a Research Assistant at the Colorado School of Mines on a NSF-funded project addressing sustainable practices in artisanal and small-scale gold mining in Colombia and an internship at MIT D-Lab developing environmental assessment tools for similar communities. Casey also held roles as a Fulbright Scholar in Mexico, mentoring English Teaching Assistants and teaching at the Universidad de Quintana Roo. Educational qualifications include a Master of Science in Humanitarian Engineering & Science from the Colorado School of Mines and dual Bachelor of Science degrees in Biological Engineering and a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish Language and Literature from the University of Arkansas, complemented by a minor in Foundations of Sustainability.
