Dr. LaTonya M. Goffney's work experience includes serving as the President of the National Alliance of Black School Educators (NABSE) starting in 2023. Dr. LaTonya M. has also served as the President and Member of the Texas Association of School Administrators since 2008. In addition, they have held the position of Superintendent of Schools in Aldine ISD since 2018 and in Lufkin ISD from 2013 to 2018. Furthermore, they have been an Executive Board Member and Past President of the Texas Council of Women School Executives from 2015 to 2016. Before those roles, they served as the Superintendent of Schools in C-OCISD from 2008 to 2013 and held various roles in education, such as Superintendent in the Region VI Regional Advisory Committee and Principal at Lincoln Junior High. Dr. Goffney has also participated in leadership programs such as the District Administration Leadership Institute and the Lamar Superintendent Academy.
Dr. LaTonya M. Goffney earned their Doctorate in Educational Leadership from Sam Houston State University between 2006 and 2011. Prior to that, they obtained a Master of Education in Educational Administration from the same institution between 2001 and 2003. Dr. Goffney's undergraduate education includes a Bachelor of Arts in English/History, Secondary Education from Sam Houston State University, completed from 1995 to 1999. In addition, they received a Science of Reading Star Award Nominee certification from Amplify in 2021.
