Byron Johnson, D.M.A., possesses extensive experience in music education and administration. Currently serving as the Director of the Office of Global Programs and Associate Professor of Music at Alcorn State University since August 2011, Byron specializes in vocal pedagogy, applied voice, opera history, and diction, while also preparing students for recitals and competitions. Additionally, Byron holds the position of ASU Faculty Senate Chair and has experience as Secretary for the National Association of Teachers of Singing. Prior roles include adjunct instructor positions at Pearl River Community College and Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College, where Byron taught music appreciation and applied voice. Educational qualifications include a Doctor of Musical Arts and a Master of Music from The University of Southern Mississippi, and a Bachelor of Arts from Talladega College. Byron is also recognized as a Sphinx LEAD Fellow.
