VP & Chief Scientist at National Audubon Society

Chad W. has a diverse work experience that spans both academic and environmental organizations. Chad'smost recent role was as Vice President and Chief Scientist at the National Audubon Society, where they oversaw the organization's scientific efforts. Prior to this, Chad held various positions at Audubon, including Vice President & Interim Chief Scientist and VP of Conservation Science. In these roles, they led teams in conducting spatial and non-spatial analyses and provided science support for major conservation initiatives. Chad also served as the Director of Conservation Science, where they managed workflow and led analyses and communication efforts. Before joining Audubon, Chad worked as a Research Manager for the Climate Initiative and as a Spatial Ecologist. Additionally, they have academic experience as a Postdoctoral Research Associate at the University of Washington and as a Research Assistant at the same institution. Prior to their academic career, Chad worked as an Environmental Specialist II and Wildlife Biologist at Jones and Stokes Associates.

Chad W. completed their Bachelor of Science (BS) in Biology, General from the University of Puget Sound, where they studied from 1995 to 1999. Chad then pursued further education and achieved a Master of Science (MS) in Conservation Biology and Sustainable Development from the University of Wisconsin-Madison between 2003 and 2005. Chad's education journey continued as they obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Landscape Ecology from the University of Washington, attending from 2007 to 2011.
