Chad Witko

Senior Coordinator, Avian Biology Migratory Bird Initiative at National Audubon Society

Chad Witko has a diverse range of work experience in the field of avian biology and conservation. Chad has worked as a Senior Coordinator in Avian Biology for the National Audubon Society, focusing on the Migratory Bird Initiative. Chad is also the Co-Founder of the Monadnock Region Birding Cup.

Chad has held various roles at the New Hampshire Audubon, including Avian Ecologist and New Hampshire Bird Records Season Editor. Chad has extensive knowledge of New Hampshire's avifauna and is skilled in writing summaries and utilizing eBird and Excel.

At the Harris Center for Conservation Education, Chad worked as a Raptor Biologist, where they identified and documented migratory raptors and educated the public about raptor conservation. Chad has also worked as a Winter Raptor Specialist for the Greene County Industrial Development Agency, conducting field research on land usage by wintering raptors.

Other roles in Chad's work history include Project Leader and Head Bird Bander at Texas Tech University, Grassland Bird Technician at New Jersey Audubon, and Shorebird Technician at New Jersey Audubon. In these positions, Chad conducted field research, monitored bird populations, and facilitated the capture and banding of migratory birds.

Chad Witko started their education journey by attending Columbia-Greene Community College from 1999 to 2001, where they earned an Associate of Science (AS) degree with a focus on Math/Science. Chad then went on to pursue a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Environmental and Forest Biology (Cum Laude) from the State University of New York College of Environmental Science and Forestry, graduating between 2001 and 2003.

Later, Chad furthered their education at Antioch University New England, where they obtained a Master of Science (MS) degree in Conservation Biology from 2015 to 2017. In addition to their degrees, they also obtained a Certificate in Applied Spatial Analysis for Geographic Information Systems (GIS) from the same institution in May 2017.
