Jacelyn Downey has a diverse work experience in the field of environmental education and marine biology. Jacelyn started their career in 2000 as a Marine Biology Instructor at the Catalina Island Marine Institute, where they worked until 2002. In 2003, they joined the Audubon Nature Institute as a Jellyfish Aquarist, and stayed until 2004. Subsequently, they joined the National Audubon Society in 2005 as an Outreach and Education Specialist, where they are currently employed.

Jacelyn Downey attained a Bachelor's degree in Aquatic Biology/Limnology from UC Santa Barbara, where they studied from 1997 to 2000. Prior to their undergraduate studies, they graduated from Los Banos High School between 1992 and 1995 with no specific degree or field of study mentioned.
