Keilani Bonis-Ericksen's work experience includes roles such as a Geospatial Analyst at the National Audubon Society, where they develop applied science products and performs spatial analysis. Keilani also worked as an HYCC Team Lead at Kupu, leading and managing a team in conservation service work. In addition, Keilani served as a GIS Contractor at Pulama Mau Consulting, providing mapping services for conservation easement sites. Keilani gained experience as an NSF Ike Wai Marine and Data Science Research Teaching Assistant at the University of Hawaii at Hilo, teaching geospatial techniques and data analysis methods. Prior to that, they worked as an Environmental Scientist at Marine Research Consultants, conducting water quality monitoring. Keilani's earlier experience includes roles as a Marine Naturalist/Kayak Guide, Head Lifeguard/Pool Manager, and a Coastal Geology Research Intern.
Keilani Bonis-Ericksen obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Geology with a minor in Spanish from Occidental College in 2016. Keilani then pursued a Master's degree in Marine/Environmental Science at the University of Hawaii at Hilo from 2019 to 2021. Keilani also possesses several certifications, including Certified Scientific Diver from NAUI Worldwide, Open Water Diver's Certification from PADI, Red Cross Lifeguard Certification with CPR and First Aid from the Hellenic Red Cross - Samaritans, Rescuers and Lifeguards Sector, and American Lifeguard Association Professional Rescuer Certification with CPR and First Aid. Additionally, they hold a Hawaii Boating Safety Certification and a DAN Rescue Certificate from the Divers Alert Network.
