Richard Santangelo

Program Director at National Audubon Society

Richard Santangelo has a diverse work experience in the field of environmental education. Richard started their career as an Education Volunteer with the Peace Corps in 2004, teaching English and promoting bird conservation at a university. From 2007 to 2009, they worked as an Environmental Educator with the Brevard County Environmentally Endangered Lands Program (EEL), teaching environmental education programs and developing the Birding for Kids program. In 2007, they also joined the City of Satellite Beach as an Environmental Educator, where they conducted interpretive boat tours and organized marine biology camps. In 2011, Richard joined the National Audubon Society as an Education Program Manager, where they established and implemented the For the Birds! (FTB!) program across Long Island and the New York City area. Richard was later promoted to Program Director, overseeing the FTB! program and collaborating with senior leadership on various initiatives.

Richard Santangelo earned a Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) degree in Elementary Education and Teaching from William Paterson University of New Jersey, where they studied from 1998 to 2000. Richard later pursued a Master of Science (MS) degree in Environmental Education and Ecology from the Florida Institute of Technology. In addition to their degrees, Richard also holds certifications in Textio Equitable Performance Feedback.
