Sebastian K. Herzog

Protected Areas Strategy Director at National Audubon Society

Sebastian K. Herzog has a diverse range of work experience. Sebastian K. began their career in 2002 as the Scientific Director for Asociación Armonía - BirdLife International Bolivia. Sebastian K. then went on to work as a Research Associate for Museo de Historia Natural Alcide d'Orbigny starting in 2008. In the same year, they also became an External Collaborator and Project PI for the Inter-American Institute for Global Change Research (IAI), a role they held until 2010. Herzog continued their involvement with IAI as an External Collaborator and Project PI from 2011 to 2015.

In 2017, they joined the National Audubon Society as the Chile Program Manager, a position they held until 2021. During their time with the National Audubon Society, they also served as the Protected Areas Strategy Director, a role they took on in 2021.

Herzog's most recent work experience is as a Research Professor at Future Generations University, beginning in 2020. Sebastian K. continues to hold this position.

Sebastian K. Herzog's education history begins in 1989 when they enrolled in The University of Göttingen to pursue their Bachelor's degree in Biology. Sebastian K. successfully completed their studies in 1995, earning a Diplom (MSc) in Biology. Following this, from 1993 to 1996, Sebastian was a Visiting Scholar at the University of California, Davis, specializing in Ornithology and Ecotoxicology. In 1998, they joined Carl von Ossietzky University of Oldenburg to pursue a PhD in Biological Sciences. Sebastian K.'sdoctoral studies lasted until 2002, leading him to obtain their PhD degree.
