Shubham Datta

Shubham Datta's work experience begins in 2006 as a Research Fellow at the Wildlife Institute of India, where they conducted surveys and designed camera trap studies across different protected areas in India. Shubham also managed budgets, supervised technicians, and arranged logistics.

In 2008, they served as a Research Fellow at the same institute, studying sympatric carnivores in Mudumalai Tiger Reserve. Shubham'sduties included conducting research on carnivore demography, habitat, and diet.

During the same year, they worked as a Field Biologist at the Wildlife Institute of India, where they gained hands-on experience in fieldwork.

From 2008 to 2009, Shubham worked as a Resource Person at the Salim Ali Centre for Ornithology and Natural History. Shubham contributed to a project focusing on strengthening community conservation efforts in Nagaland, providing technical support on biodiversity conservation and livelihood options to local communities.

In 2009, they joined South Dakota State University as a GRA (Graduate Research Assistant) for a project on raptors in temperate grasslands. Shubham was responsible for teaching graduate and undergraduate courses, mentoring students, and supervising research technicians.

At the same university, they served as an Instructor and was involved in designing and conducting field-based and online courses, as well as advising undergraduate students. Shubham also worked as a Graduate Teaching Assistant and conducted research on bat ecology and general biology courses.

Between 2012 and 2016, Shubham worked as a Research Technician at the university's wild ungulate research facility, running operations and research. Shubham also served as a Visiting Scholar, assisting with a population viability analysis project on Swift fox in Badlands National Park.

From 2016 to 2022, they worked at Dakota College at Bottineau, initially as an Assistant Professor and later as an Associate Professor. Shubham'sresponsibilities included teaching and advising undergraduate students.

Shubham's most recent work experience is with the National Audubon Society, where they hold the position of Senior Director of Conservation since February 2022.

Shubham Datta began their education at Calcutta University, Kolkata, where they earned a Bachelor's Degree in Zoology from 2000 to 2003. Shubham then pursued further studies at Bundelkhand University from 2004 to 2006, where they obtained a Master's Degree in Natural Resource Management. Subsequently, they enrolled at South Dakota State University in 2009, where they continued their education as a Ph.D. candidate in Animal Ecology until 2016. During their time at South Dakota State University, they specialized in various fields, including Wildlife Biology from 2013 to 2016 and Raptor Ecology from 2010 to 2016, ultimately earning a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree.
