Jerome Schmaltz

Sr Dir. Lead Software Architecture & Innovation at National Bank of Canada

Jerome Schmaltz has extensive work experience in various technology-related roles. Jerome is currently working as a Strategic Advisor at Clinical Innovation Platform (CLIP) since October 2023. Prior to this, they worked at the National Bank of Canada, where they held the positions of Sr Dir. Lead Software Architecture & Innovation and Sr Director, Architecture & Integration from 2022 to the present.

Before joining the National Bank of Canada, Schmaltz was CTO & Co-founder at PEARLL from 2020 onwards. During this role, they developed a cloud-native, distributed platform for the Mental Health space and collaborated with experts to build and digitalize protocols for therapies.

From 2019 to 2020, Schmaltz served as the CTO at LANDR Audio Inc., where they led research & AI and restructured the organization. Jerome also worked as the Vice-President of Technology & Innovation at the Canadian Medical Association from 2017 to 2019.

Schmaltz has a long history with the Banque Nationale du Canada, starting in 2009. Jerome held positions such as Head of Innovation Lab, Senior Director, Head of Innovation Lab - Digital Channels, Director, Agile Transformation Lead, Web and Mobile Technology Lead, and Web & Mobile Software Architect during their tenure at the company.

Before joining the Banque Nationale du Canada, Schmaltz worked as a System Software Specialist at CAE Inc. from 2007 to 2009.

Jerome Schmaltz completed their education as follows:

- Master of Engineering (M.Eng.) in Aerospace, Aeronautical and Astronautical/Space Engineering from École de technologie supérieure (2006-2010).

- Postgraduate Diploma in Digital Business from Emeritus (2018-2019).

- Completed additional certifications, including CBSA from Blockchain Training Alliance (obtained in February 2022), Architecting with Google Kubernetes Engine Specialization from Coursera, Machine Learning Foundations: A Case Study Approach from Coursera Course Certificates, and Certified Associate Java Programmer SE 7 from Oracle (obtained in 2013).

- Pursued online courses in Applied Data Science from University of Michigan (2016-2017) and Machine Learning Specialization from University of Washington (2016-2017).

- Attended Cegep Montmorency for Techniques in Informatique, and Collège Beaubois without specific degree information.
